At Home With Family

Orlando and I finally decided to head back to El Paso. Things were getting worse in new York (and they continue to get worse) by the day. We finally decided to take the plunge and come home before things got worse. We decided on Thursday, the last day of our London quarantine, and Orlando’s dad bought the tickets for us that same day. We left Friday evening and got into El Paso on Friday night.

It was absolutely the right decision. We arrived on my brother’s birthday so that was nice. All the restaurants and markets were closed at all the airports and due to the virus, the airlines are suspending food services on the planes so no snacks. Needless to say, we were starving by the time we landed. We stopped by the Whataburger drive in because, duh, Whataburger! We ate dinner at my mom’s house with my mom, brother and his girlfriend. It felt like a huge weight off of our shoulders. That night, we slept better than we had since coming back from London.

Our families are all relieved that we’re home, too. I think it’s just one of those things, that if we start developing symptoms, they know they can help us here. We’re currently in quarantine at my mom’s house. Unfortunately, there’s no way to see Orlando’s family until our two week quarantine is over, but they’re just happy to have us in the same city.

We’re currently awaiting news on whether or not Cuomo will be freezing rent for three months. We know that once the freeze is up, we’ll more than likely have back rent to pay, but for now any financial relief is much needed. We’re still waiting on Orlando’s unemployment to drop in and I have one SP session to do virtually which will pay well. Otherwise, our financial worries aren’t over, but in this we are not alone. We know many people all over the country are in our situation. I guess to close out, I’ll say that as difficult as things seem, this won’t last forever.
