I Just Celebrated Five Years of Marriage!
Hello everyone,
On July 13, Orlando and I celebrated five years of marriage. On July 14 we celebrated fourteen years together as a couple. I love that our anniversaries fell on a weekend this year so that we could have a weekend celebration.
I originally wanted to get married on our dating anniversary. Orlando proposed to me in February 2018 and that year July 14 landed on a Saturday, so it would have been perfect! Unfortunately, there was no way to get all the Catholic preparations done in five months. We got married in El Paso, but needed to do preparations in New York. The Diocese of El Paso is so much stricter than the Diocese in New York and we needed to provide so much information before they would even let us reserve the church for the ceremony...
Catholic ceremonies are only held on Saturdays only so we had to wait until 2019 to get married at which point July 14 landed on a Sunday.
No regrets though. I feel like it just makes our anniversary doubly special. July is a month of celebrations in general.
We celebrate our anniversary and our nieces' Melody and Emma, Orlando, and my father-in-law's birthdays. Grateful, but this makes for an expensive month. It works out though since my birthday is in December and I am blessed with loved ones who celebrate that and Christmas as two separate events as opposed to one.
So, how did we celebrate?
Saturday was kind of rainy so we spent most of the day cuddled up inside. We did go out to dinner at a place called Dolly Varden.
Sunday we went on a hike. We love Inwood Hill Park and have hiked there before. This time we hiked the orange trail. This is a moderately vigorous trail where you actually hike mainly using unpaved paths. It was beautiful and we had a great time.
The traditional five years' anniversary present is: wood.
Orlando bought me a beautiful wooden frame for our biggest wedding picture that I have yet to see since it was sent to my mom's house. I know what I want to get Orlando, but haven't gotten it yet. I'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow. I also need to get him his birthday present. I put the order in for that two weeks ago and nothing so I need to get him something else which he knows about.
I love you, Orlando!
